The 81st Academy Awards aired Sunday, hosted by Hugh Jackman. As expected, Slumdog Millionaire dominated, winning 8 out of their 10 possible awards. Can’t say I much minded, the movie was great and the stars (especially the child actors) are all deserving and grateful.

Slumdog Child Actors
Although at times I felt more like I was watching the MTV Movie Awards, I thought Hugh Jackman did a great job hosting and thought overall the show was more entertaining than those in recent years. I especially enjoyed the musical numbers, of course, although the second one was a bit hard to take in all at once. It took me until the end of the performance to realize that Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens were even on stage - and I usually keep my eyes peeled for stars of that sort.
Of course, Beyonce had to make an appearance - it wouldn’t be an awards show without B. I thought Tina Fey was hilarious as always, and enjoyed all the tongue-in-cheek commentary that was managed to be squeezed into a usually dry show (Milk’s pro-gay rights, Scientology digs, Joaquin mocking, Pineapple Express smoking).
