Texts from Last Night is my new jam.

Simple concept.

Step 1: You send a text you’ll probably regret.

Step 2: You do

Step 3: Forward the text to the world via texts from last night.

303Grand

Thursday, February 26th, 2009

Brooklyn is just…cool. & it’s not apologizing for it.

Example: A pop-up store concept called 303 Grand

The space isn’t really that amazing, but the idea behind it is.  The store is owned and operated by “non-marketing” agency, Street Attack.

From 1 day to 3 months brands, artists or organizations have the opportunity to create an experiential pop-up store plus they get the assistance of a marketing agency.

The Forgotten Weird Al CD

Wednesday, February 25th, 2009

You know, as opposed to all those remembered ones…. My friend Cory is a huge nerd for many reasons. One of those reasons is that he’s a statistician. Another is that he is a giant Weird Al fan. He said that at some point he and his entire family has been to at least 2 weird al concerts…together. I don’t know if it’s a Jewish thing or just a nerd thing but damn does Cory love weird al.

Fav. Pods

Tuesday, February 24th, 2009

No one talks about Podcasts anymore. I never appreciated them until recently. Now I prefer listening to them over watching TV.

My Favs:

Stuff You Missed in History Class - Where else can you hear 20 minutes on “Did the Great Chicago Fire really start with Mrs. O’Leary’s Cow”?

This American Life - ex: Of all 6.5 billion people in the world, what are the odds that any two people are a real match.

NPR - News. F’real.

I need more to fuel my Podcast addition. Suggestions?

The Oscars

Monday, February 23rd, 2009

The 81st Academy Awards aired Sunday, hosted by Hugh Jackman. As expected, Slumdog Millionaire dominated, winning 8 out of their 10 possible awards. Can’t say I much minded, the movie was great and the stars (especially the child actors) are all deserving and grateful.

Going Back In Time

Monday, February 23rd, 2009

Today, the Dow Jones Industrial Average reached a low it hasn’t seen since 1997. That’s 12 years ago! So, this post is dedicated to 1997.

In Feb 1997

I was a freshman in HIGH SCHOOL. Holy crap. That means I was only 14.

Coca Cola with sugar

Sunday, February 22nd, 2009

Mexicans have it better off than Americans when it comes to Coca Cola.

See, they use real cane sugar in their coke, not this horrid corn syrup garbage. Coca Cola has been using corn syrup in its domestic brands since the 80s (it’s cheaper) and it’s a real treat when you can find yourself a Mexican bottle of Coke. They have them at El Charro in Logan Square.

AND they come in glass bottles.

Glass > Cans > Plastic. That’s the soda container pecking order.
